A Conference hall in Soweto

If your company is looking to strategise over real issues concerning a real South Africa, then Soweto is an environment conducive to making real decisions.

It's time to loosen the tie a little and swap your stuffy boardroom for something a little different...
Uncle Tom's Community Centre is a unique and exciting venue for your next conference. The centre is located in the heart of Soweto, next to one of the most significant areas in South Africa's history - the Hector Pietersen Memorial and Museum.

The centre comprises the following 2 areas where a conference can take place:

The Main Hall:
The hall configuration is 22m by 15m with a stage area of 10m by 7m, seating can be arranged for up 1000 delegates school room style.

The Side Hall:
Ideal for smaller or breakaway groups, measures 15m by 7m and can seat up to 40 delegates in school room style.

The reception area is large and specious and leads to the main hallThe Centre (together with our Soweto.co.za conference organiser) provides or can outsource all the necessary requirements you may have:
Conference chairs / tables & cloths / screens / PA & sound systems / 3 phase power / podiums / mineral water & mints / restrooms / full catering service / secure parking / general security / gallery & outside areas for breaks & registration.

Because of the very reasonable costs involved we recommend the entire centre is booked out, allowing only your group access to the whole building, hence no possibility of noise disturbance if one of the other areas is being used.

Our recommended conference day comprises the following:

08h15
Arrive at Uncle Tom's Community Centre located at 8288 Maseko Street Orlando West. There is secure parking available for cars and coaches. Enjoy some traditional vetkoek with a selection of jams, cheeses and cold meats together with filter coffee and tea to get the day kick-started. Registration takes place in the gallery area.

Make your way to the neighbouring Hector Pietersen Museum where the group will have exclusive access to this fascinating, state of the art multi media centre which depicts scenes leading up to the student uprising of June 16th 1976 and the eventual transition to democracy in South Africa. A cocktail function will be set up in one of the outside areas within the museum's precincts, where drinks and snacks will be served whilst you take in the spectacular views of Soweto at sunset. Wander through the museum at your leisure.

19h00
Head back home or perhaps hit one of the local taverns to experience the vibrancy of Soweto by night!

The end of a fulfilling and memorable "day at the office".

Another idea is for companies is to combine a half day conference with one
